The year was 1976 and she was an international star when she scored the only ever perfect 10 on the asymmetric bar during the Montreal Olympic Games. And, to top it off she scored six more perfect tens, making her the youngest overall Olympic gold medalist in history, at just 14 years of age. Nadia Comaneci managed to draw international attention and assist in helping Romania establish itself as a major player on the international stage. The sporting icon was a worldwide sensation after she scored a record-breaking score. She created a legend and helped to popularize gymnastics around the globe.
